Privacy and GDPR Policy.

This website is operated by McDougall’s of Oban ltd. 103 George Street, Oban Argyll PA34 5NT. Whilst you are welcome to browse this website without providing any personal information, if you wish to take steps to place an order for an item and enter into a contract for the sale of goods, we need to  process personal data supplied by you for this purpose.

How do we collect your data?  Most of the data we collect is provided directly by you and we collect and/or process data when you:-

  • Register online or place an order for any of our products or services.
  • Contact us to ask for more information about a product or service we may provide
  • Voluntarily complete a customer survey or provide feedback to us either via email or any other direct means of communication.
  • Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies.

What data do we collect? This will include but may not be limited to your name, address, postcode, contact telephone number, email address and purchase information. We may ask you for payment card details but we do not store these.

How will we use your data? Our company collects your data so that we can:-

  • Process your order and manage your account
  • Email you with special offers on other products and services we think you might like.

When we process an order from you we may send your data to our payment service providers who will process your payment. We may also share your data with our warehouse provider and our couriers who will prepare your order for despatch and deliver the order to you respectively. We may also use the services of an email service provider to communicate order confirmation emails and we may use an independent review partner who will email you to invite you to leave a review of your order.

If you agree, we may share your data with partner companies so that they may offer you their products and services. Partner companies would include manufacturers or suppliers of products which we offer for sale on this website, or their agents, and would concern product guarantees or warranties and/or the fulfilment of a contractual obligation stemming from the purchase of a product.

Marketing. We would like to send you information about products and services of ours that we think you might like. If you have agreed to receive marketing material from us, you may always opt out at a later date. You have the right at any time to stop our Company from contacting you for marketing purposes and if you no longer wish to be contacted please use the “unsubscribe” option on one of our marketing messages or email us at mcdougallsoban@btinternet.com to communicate your wish.

However please note that we can only do this when an order is complete and after deleting your data we will not be able to identify you, so cannot accept any returns or answer questions regarding previous orders etc.

The right to restrict processing – You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data under certain conditions.

The right to object. – You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data under certain conditions.

The right to data portability – You have the right to request that we provide you with a copy of any information held, in a commonly used machine-readable format.

Please note that in order to action such a request we will ask you to provide proof of identity to ensure that you are the owner of the personal information in question. We reserve the right not to comply with the request if we are not satisfied with the proof of identity provided.

How do we store your data? We have security measures in place to restrict access to your data, to maintain data integrity and to prevent data loss. Data can only be accessed or processed by our employees or third parties with whom we have appropriate contractual arrangements.

We will keep your information on our databases until you ask us to delete it. Equally if you have not interacted with us for a while then we will delete your information, the exact time period for this being kept under constant review. At present we consider 24 months or two financial years, whichever is longer to be appropriate here.
